What’s On My Face? The Bali Edit

balimakeup2L-R: M&S Lipstick: Bright Pink | MAC Prep+Prime BB Cream | B. Sculpted Contour Kit | Volume Million Lashes: Waterproof Black | Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer | Collection Extreme 24Hr Liner | MUA Lipstick: Nectar 16 | Bourjois Natural Eyebrow Pen | BarryM Gelly in Sugar Apple

As my luggage space is relatively small (backpacking…) I’ve had to whittle my collection down to a few summer makeup essentials.

Summer makeup differs from person to person, day-to-day. At home I prefer to use a light foundation with a simple version of my normal full-makeup look. In Bali, however, I don’t have that luxury.

My packing space is not big, and my makeup bag has to be shared with a number of other essentials like mini shampoo, razor, etc. Narrowing down my face to the absolute minimum was a challenge but effective and I have plenty of room now for the more important items (think suncream and aftersun).

Face | For basic coverage I’ve opted for a light BB cream, concealer and my B. contouring duo for that sun-kissed sculpted glow. I don’t tan especially easily so need all the help I can get when it comes to looking like I’ve been in the sun, even when I literally haven’t touched shade for hours. Think lobster red or nothing at all!

Eyes and brows | A fabulous dupe for Soap and Glory’s cult felt tip eyeliner, Collection’s offering is pretty darn fabulous and even passes the sweat test (I forgot to take my makeup off before the gym…) Waterproof lashes are a must for snorkelling and surfing too! For my brows I need a natural finish that will stay all day so Boujois’ brow pen does the absolute trick and fills in my brows for a more natural, beach-babe look.

Lips and nails | I’m not bothering with nude or dark lips on holiday as my own lips do just fine for that! However, for a tropical feel I always opt for orange! Here we have a long-standing favourite of mine in the M&S lipstick – despite its name, it’s a fabulous rich orange and I could wear it every day! MUA’s Nectar lipstick is more pinky, like a bright coral, and is perfect for a day by the beach! On my nails I have the gorgeous Sugar Apple – I always bring my polish on holiday with me to cover up any pesky chips.

So there we are, a tiny fragment of my collection perfect for travelling the distance.

What do you take with you on holiday?

(I’m currently enjoying the holiday of a lifetime in Bali – you can follow what I’m up to on my instagram!)

You’ve done really well to whittle it down to the essentials! Love your picks too! I also think that orange and coral are the best summer holiday lip colours! x

Thank you! I ended up only really wearing the BB and mascara in the end so even the essentials weren’t essential enough 😛 Next time I’m only packing those! Coral is always mu no1 when it comes to lipstick so couldn’t go anywhere without it! xx
