You may have seen from instagram that Ollie and I spent the weekend in an electricity-less cabin in the middle of a field in the South Downs – it was heaven.

Our weekend in the shepherd’s hut was not, however, decided on a whim. I was challenged by Endsleigh Insurance to tick something off my bucket list. They’re currently running a bit of a competition to help my broke student friends do something a little more exciting than just a trip to the library.

They’ve compiled a list of 21 amazing bucket list, including things like music festivals, skydiving, surfing in Cornwall and a trip to the WB studio tour. No15 on their list is glamping – something I’ve always wanted to do.

So off Ollie and I went, back to my home county of West Sussex, for a night in the countryside.

We both grew up in the Sussex countryside and have such huge soft spots for the Downs. I knew that if we were going to go glamping anywhere, Sussex would be the place. A half-hour drive from my parents’, we’d arrived at our super cute Airbnb.

We were shown to the hut by the lovely owner, Cathy, who told us all about growing up there, the best pubs in the area, and the best walks. She showed us the campfire set up in the field behind the hut and where the wood was for the log burner inside. I’m a sucker for a fire (who isn’t?) and may have squealed a little.

I think I fell in love with the place immediately. Despite there being no electricity, no flushing loo, and definitely no wifi, I felt weirdly at home. We spent a glorious evening at the nearest pub, driving into the most wonderful sunset to get there, and later lit the log burner and watched a little downloaded Netflix in the cabin, under the quilt. Listening to the countryside right outside our little hut, late into the night, as a definite highlight. Who doesn’t love the hoot of an owl in the night?

I also slept like a baby.

In the morning, Cathy appeared from over the fields with a picnic basket filled with breakfast goodies and I actually thought I had gone to heaven. Fresh OJ, hot croissants, the biggest blackberries in the whole world: burn my clothes.

For something I’d wanted to do for ages, but was a little nervous about given some awful Gold DofE expeditions, it absolutely exceeded my expectations. Everything, down to the tiniest detail, was perfect: the candles in the evening, the roaring fire, the big ol’ thermos of hot water for tea. I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better weekend away from London and away from my phone and emails.

Win the ultimate bucket list!

I’m so glad that I finally got to tick glamping off my bucket list, and I’m so grateful that Endsleigh gave me the opportunity to do so. It’s not often that you get to do something you’ve always wanted to do, and I’m going to jump at the next opportunity I get to go on an adventure. Life is for having amazing experiences!

As I said earlier, you too could grab yourself the ultimate bucket list of experiences!

Just in time for the new uni year to begin, Endsleigh Insurance are offering one lucky student (and their even luckier friend) the opportunity to tick 21 amazing things off their bucket list. All in all, the experiences total £4,000!

PLUS Endsleigh are also offering the winner £1000 to spend on food and accommodation while they live their best bucket list life!

All you have to do is fill in the form (here ya go!) by 31st October to be in with a chance of winning! 10 runners up will receive an iPad so you really can’t go far wrong.

So what are you waiting for? Enter yourself and get your friends to enter. The more of your friends that enter, the more chance you have of being taken along with them too – win, win. My student card technically expired three days ago so… have my entry!

Good luck – let me know how you get on! x
