As one of my little excursions around the UK this week, I hit The Waffley Good Company with my bae, Geileis.
Situated on the gorgeous Elvet Bridge in the centre of Durham, Waffley Good is a farely new addition to the bursting collection of cafés and tea rooms in the city. I think they’re here to stay!
With both sweet and savoury waffles, as well as a few specials and a breakfast/brunch menu, the café is always heaving with students and locals alike. Cute, simple decor and extremely friendly staff make for an all round lovely waffley experience.
To start with we ordered some fabulous savoury waffles. I opted for an amazing Mexican themed waffle, with avocado, salsa, chicken and cheese, and jalapeños baked into the waffle! G had a BBQ pulled pork waffle and my goodness it looked and smelled amazing. If you’re not a fan of mixed sweet and savoury, then perhaps this isn’t for you, but the flavour combinations in both waffles were just fantastic! I quite honestly can’t fault anything.
Not quite satisfied with just one waffle, I decided to get a sweet one (hoping that someone would share it with me…) Oreos, strawberries and cream?! Yes. Please.
If you’re ever in Durham and fancy something different to the standard tea and cake mould, Waffley Good is a definite win. Overlooking one of the busiest streets in Durham, the café is perfect for people watching on a damp Friday lunch time with delicious food, and extra delicious company.0
