[dropcap]S[/dropcap]ilver linings are things that can be pretty tough to find. I’m not a very optimistic person. I’m queen of cynicism and sarcasm and pessimism. With the days getting shorter and shorter, and the dark creeping in at like 4pm (!!), it can all seem a little bleak in the dead of winter.
To combat the fact that in the next 17 days (until Ollie comes to visit) I have a full essay deadline, a dissertation meeting, and have to write up my third of the college panto (which I’m not actually complaining about because it’s hilarious), I thought I’d list a few of the silver linings that have popped into my head recently. A few of the little things that have made me happy.
1. I’VE FINISHED ONE OF MY MODULES-ISH
Okay, so I have the final exam all the way in May, but other than that I’ve finished one of my modules. The third week of term and I’m done. Just three more modules and the diss to go. I’m living the high life.
2. I’VE HAD MY HAIR CUT SHORT AGAIN
Guys, I did the whole hair cut thing. I think it’s shorter than it’s ever been before. I think so. I had planned to grow it out a little more and keep it long, but the ends were so broken and sad that I just had to go for a trim and ended up deciding to just get it all cut off again. I love it. It suits my new nose piercing perfectly. I’m kind of cool now.
3. SALTED CARAMEL BROWNIES ARE SO NICE
I don’t really like chocolate things but can we take a moment to look at my instagram and gaze happily at the salted caramel brownie that I had the other day? Yas. Yas we bloody can.
4. PRETTY BITS AND PIECES FROM LINKS OF LONDON
Links of London were kind enough to send me over a little something the other day and I’m shook. I’ve been a fan of Links for ages. I have one of their silver bangles sitting on my dressing table right this second, and I adore it. When Links offered to send over one of their signature charm bracelets and a few little charms, I jumped at it and immediately set to work curating my charms. Here’s what I picked.
The bracelet itself is the classic XS Silver Chain Charm Bracelet* as, weirdly, I have really small wrists. Disproportionately small wrists for the rest of my body. I also went for this bracelet as I’m a fan of really simple designs. The chain itself is dainty and elegant, and understated – which is a massive plus for me. It’s just to pretty!
To complete the look I opted for three silver charms, with a little rose gold cause obv I’m a blogger and that’s how we roll. Notice I’ve even photographed it all on marble?
My fave, weirdly, is the little letter ‘I’*. It’s pretty and simple and would look so good as a pendant on a necklace as well as as a charm on a bracelet. It’s so dainty and cute and I love it. The Rose Gold Rose* is another favourite. It’s so pink and pretty and goes with my growing rose gold collection pretty damn well. Unfortunately it appears to have sold out online so I can’t link it, but here’s their entire Nature Collection for you! Last but by no means least is the little silver and gold teacup* (that also appears to have sold out so here are the Tea Charms). I might have to treat myself to the matching tea pot charm at some point, or maybe the gold Bourbon biscuit charm.
With Christmas coming up, and difficult people to buy for, it’s looking more and more likely that I’ll end up in the Guildford Links store…
5. OLLIE’S COMING TO VISIT IN 17 DAYS
Yay! I’m not even going to elaborate because we all know that that’s exciting and I saw him last weekend and won’t see him again til mid-November and then we can go for brunch and do no work for five days and that’s all really exciting. Excitement all round.
