REN Perfect Canvas, First Impressions

REN Perfect Canvas, First ImpressionsREN Perfect Canvas, First Impressions[dropcap]S[/dropcap]o I got really excited yesterday morning when a parcel from REN was handed to me by my long suffering postman. Very very excited indeed. I’d been waiting for this little bit of blogger mail for a few days, and the time had finally arrived.

Within the parcel was a present from REN: their brand now, out today, Perfect Canvas* moisturiser primer.

I love primers. I hardly ever remember to use them but for some reason I’m a massive fan. I think they just make me feel like I have my shit together. Like yeah, I’m an adult and use primers under my makeup. Is that lame?

Having said that Perfect Canvas is a primer is a little wrong, however. It’s not a primer primer. It’s not greasy on your fingers or thick like most primers. It’s actually very liquid and smooth and melts away into the skin. Delicious. It also has the added bonus of being great for your skin – so I guess it’s more of a pre-makeup serum than a straight up primer.

Anyway, as it’s out TODAY (!!) I thought I’d tempt you with a little first impressions post. I’ve tried it with and without makeup over, and I’m excited to try it for the 14 days that REN suggest.

So the primer comes just like most serums, with a little pipette in a gorgeous glass bottle. The packaging is genuinely gorgeous. I’m such a fan of plain white matte packaging – so so pretty and fun (easy) to photograph.

The formula itself is very liquid, more so than you’d expect from a primer. That’s one of the reasons I like it so much at first try. It’s easy to massage over the face and settles in beautifully without making your skin feel greasy.

I think it’s very exciting when you find a skincare product that makes you happy to go without makeup. As you can see from above, this is one of those products. While it doesn’t cover blemishes or imperfections, it makes the skin smooth and matte and ready to face the day. It also locks in moisture from your moisturiser so there’re no worries about dry skin.

Honestly, I can’t wait to see how the next 14 days pan out. x
