[dropcap]V[/dropcap]alentine’s Day, am I right?! No. Valentine’s Day is overrated. The real deal is Palentine’s Day. A day for pals and chocolate and wine and generally having a nice time doing something nice with nice people. Like Galentine’s Day but gender neutral. What a treat.
Steamer Trading are back with a classic Palentine’s Day night in selection. I’m obsessed. What more could a gal want?
Let’s start with the main man. The chocolate fountain. In particular, the Smart Retro Chocolate Fondue Machine*. Believe it or not, there’s a kilo of chocolate flowing round and round this bad boy. The highlight of the evening. The perfect conversation starter, and the perfect thing to get stuck in with all together. Get someone on melting duty (shout out to Elliott), someone on standby to run to the shops for more chocolate, and someone (me) on ‘pretending to be doing something helpful but actually just eating chocolate’ duty. Dream team. I’m going to be whipping this out at literally every occasion. Essay finished? Fountain. Actually went to my 9am? Fountain. Bored in my room? Fountain.
But what else makes Palentine’s special? A whole load of little extras. As they say, it’s the little things that count when it comes to love. Fill up these Lekue Heart Ice Cube Tray* hearts with the leftover chocolate and keep the party going for days. Need somewhere to store your marshmallows and strawberries? Try these cute little Maxwell & Williams Sauce/Dip Dish Hearts*. When you’re done you can do what I’ve done and keep your rings and hair ties and whatever in them and live the cute dressing table dream. Or, somebody stop me, fill them up with guacamole and have a cute little fajita night for actual V Day!
Let’s keep the party going over night and into the morning. Think cute heart shaped eggs/pancakes with the Kitchen Craft Silicone Egg Ring*. Get the candles lit (hello Sesame Tea Light Holder*) and serve it all up in bed with the Kitchen Craft Artesa Combination Serving Board/Tray*. Has this all got a bit too romantic? I don’t care. If you can’t eat breakfast in bed with your friends then who can you eat it with?! Exactly.
Palentine’s Day is a really cute idea, especially if, like me, your other half is going to be on the other side of the country for the actual day. We shouldn’t keep love as this big romantic thing. Love is about everyone, all the time, and is extra important in the current political climate.
So throw on Valentine’s Day (the film), laugh at how average it is compared to Love Actually, cuddle up with your pals and get some chocolate down ya. Easy peasy.
