My (Not-So-Secret) Skincare Saviours

skincare1If you follow my instagram, you’d have noticed that a week or so I commented on how a few Bodyshop purchases were quickly becoming my skincare favourites. I was right.

I’m fairly new to the whole skincare game. Obviously I’ve always taken my makeup off, washed my face and moisturised, but when it comes to using different products for different thing I’m a little bit of a novice. Since starting my blog (and really reading other people’s) this has started to gradually change. I’m now a bit of a skincare junkie. So, sit back and relax while I naively tell you all about the products I’ve just discovered, that you’ve loved for years!

1| Sudocrem’s Skin Care Cream. Now a while ago I did a little ‘first impressions’ post all about this baby. It was pretty much love at first use with this and I have never looked back. I thank it for all of my skincare gains over the past month. I truly believe that my skin has cleared up thanks to using this, and this alone. I cannot speak highly enough of it. I’m feeling a little emosh talking about it now.

2 | The Body Shop’s Vitamin E Overnight Serum. Serums are another thing that I’ve just discovered, having not really understood them in the past. (‘Why would you put oil on your face? Doesn’t it just ruin the whole point of skincare?’) I was an idiot. The first time I used this I woke up with the softest babyskin face in the whole world and continue to use it every other night (I alternate with the Sudocrem). Its not the cheapest product, but I do believe its the best. skincare2 skincare3

3 | The Body Shop’s Vitamin C Energising Face Spritz. I love a spritz of this every now and then, especially as the weather gets warmer and a little sweatier. My skin does feel instantly refreshed and the gorgeous zesty orange scent is absolutely to die for. Comes with the added bonus that your makeup remains completely intact after a spritz. Magical.

4 | The Body Shop’s Facial Brush. All around the blogging world everyone is talking about electrical face brushes that work with cleansers to clean and smooth the skin. Nice idea, not so nice price. This facial brush cost me a tidy £4 and exfoliates perfectly. Team it with the night serum and you’re on to a real winner. My only warning with this is that it is quite stiff for the first few uses and can hurt the sensitive parts of the face a little – no matter, I love it.

5 | Superdrug’s Vitamin E Nourishing Eye Cream. Eye creams are something I never thought I’d need until I was at least 40 and covered in annoying kids and the stresses of work. It seems I was mistaken and now use this little tube religiously to firm up my eye and sooth all those sensitive patches that occur from the fierce rubbing away of waterproof makeup. My eyes are softer and brighter and more filled with love and that is a wonderful thing, by anyone’s standards!

So there we have it! My top five skincare saviours that quite honestly, I don’t think my face could live without.

What’s your favourite skincare product or routine?

I’m like you I’m new to the whole skincare thing! I’ve just picked up a micellar water but I have to say I am not loving it so far so I’m going to see how that goes. I love the body shop but it’s a bit expensive for me so I’ll have to treat myself! I might pick up that super drug eye cream though! x

I love love love micellar water but I do find that I still have to use a cleansing wash before hand and then use it more as a toner than a full makeup remover! I completely agree – the BodyShop is a little out of my price range too – these were my big ‘after exams’ blow out but there are some great serums in drugstores at the moment. I know Superdrug have a fantastic range!
      Thanks for reading! xx
