Summer is a time of transition. This year more than ever before.
With my second year of university over and my year abroad coming ever closer I now find myself in a bit of a limbo between certainty and complete and utter unknowing. Luckily I have a lot of things to get on with to take my mind off my impending doom and today, for accountability reasons, I am going to share them with all you lucky people. Don’t get too excited! The big plan is to post a few ‘follow-up’ posts throughout the next few months just to let you know how
badly I’m doing.
1 | Work on my relationship with food, health and fitness.
A while ago now I had a little rant about my current relationship with health and fitness, and this is something I’d really love to work on before I move away from the country I call home. I have several little disordered eating habits as well as a huge love/hate relationship with exercise and before I branch out on my own I really need to get these in check. My big plan is to learn to control and manage my eating healthily, shed a little fat (not weight) and really work on my running and lifting. I want to start afresh in a new city, in a new country, being the best that I can be!
2 | Work on really establishing N&B
Just like any blog, nettle&blackberry is very much work in progress and always will be. That said, I’d love to really establish it as a healthy lifestyle blog – moving away from all of the cliches of a brand new blog and more towards the things I’m really passionate about: healthy and productive living. Prepare yourselves for a complete (subtle) overhaul in terms of content – I for one and super duper excited for this.
3 | Get to grips with the idea of living abroad
The idea of moving to Paris is still feeling a little dreamy to me – I haven’t quite grasped that I am actually going to go and live in a weird city with no one I know in a language I don’t really speak
yet. That said, I’m going to do my best to smash it. Before I leave in September there are a few things that I need to sort: accommodation, things like my phone and bank account, the language barrier, and other things that at home I really take for granted. Its cool. I have a month or two. I’ll get it all done and fill you in on all the deets, don’t you worry!
4 | Take a look at my disaster of a wardrobe
I am just so bad at clothes, its embarrassing. I dress okay, not bad, but not good. Before I whizz off to Paris, of all places to choose, I want to really sort out my wardrobe into more of a capsule wardrobe with statement pieces and old classics, and not a lot of them. I have far too many cheap and cheerful pieces that I really just never ever wear.
5 | Last but not least, have a great summer
On Sunday I shared with you some of the truly amazing things I’m going to be doing this summer, Bali in two weeks being an absolute highlight. Aside from all of my transitional worries my biggest goal is to make sure that I really can put them aside and focus on enjoying myself with friends and family – I’d love to have the best summer ever before I move!
Do you have any goals for the summer? Are you more of a winter snowflake?
