[dropcap]Q[/dropcap]uite often we focus on the negatives, big or small. Or at least overlook the things we take for granted. It’s a shame, isn’t it? There are little things that we do every day that make us happier, or at least less miserable, than we think. We don’t notice them, but they’re there. Shall we go through five little things that make me happy on the reg? K cool.
Prepare for a list of absolute bangers.
So Moana has had be shook for well over a month now. I put off watching it for ages and then Ollie finally convinced me, and then BAM. Obsessed. Or, to be more specific, obsessed with three of the songs. You know which ones. I’ve had How Far I’ll Go on repeat in my head for weeks. Absolute weeks. Constantly. I’ve also listened to the soundtrack every single day, in some way or another.
But y’know what? It makes me happy. Those three songs make me really bloody happy. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
I love my morning cup of tea. I love it. I didn’t realise how much I loved it until the last few weeks when I could sit by the sea drinking it, but damn. It’s just the best thing ever. A big mug (oh hi, Sports Direct) and a beautiful view, or a warm blanket, or even just at a table with the paper or some blog posts. Honestly, it’s bliss first thing in the morning. Never take tea for granted.
GOOD QUALITY SKINCARE
I made the mistake, last week, of walking into an Aesop shop and trying a few things on the back of my hand. I then had a look at the price list, promptly left, and had a bit of a sorry for myself moment in the middle of Borough Market. I’m technically still a student. I don’t have money for that stuff.
However, I have managed to pick up a few nice little bits and pieces over the year-ish, and this is the first time I’ve thought about them all together, rather than separately. I firmly believe that skincare is something you can do very well with on the cheap, but that occasionally things are pricier for a reason. I have a blossoming skincare wardrobe and it makes me happy, and my skin happy and that’s a good thing. Look after yourself, yo.
Need I say more? I have notoriously useless feet. They fit zero shoes. Even ugg-style boots rub me raw around the ankle or toes. My feet are covered in ugly little scars, or plasters, or callouses, and it’s just a nightmare. But, every so often I strike gold. I come across a pair of shoes that keep me going forever. I’m grateful to those beauties. They the real MVPs.
I love my eyebrows. I love them makeup free. I love them dolled up. I love them. They make my face what it is, and I couldn’t have done it without them. Thanks, eyebrows. This one’s for you.
What has made you happy lately?
