Essie’s ‘Sugar Daddy’.

So a few days ago I bought what I can only describe as the most expensive pink nail polish ever.

Okay so I know Essie aren’t THE most expensive. Don’t worry. I do know. Then again, I’m used to picking up 3 for 2 at Boots, or stocking up on Monoprix’s own range. Classy and classic…

I stood in Monoprix, staring at the range of Essie polishes, and spent far too much time than I’d care to admit deciding between a dozen pinks, all of which are exactly the same. (They’re not – I can’t wear blue toned pinks so it was a real struggle.)

Finally, and I mean FINALLY, we settled on ‘Sugar Daddy’. The swatchy bit on the display said it was a peachy pink and I’m all about that. €11 or so later, I was the proud owner of my first (don’t judge me) Essie polish.

(Shout out to Essie for having some really great names for their products – I’m definitely more inclined to buy something because of what the shade/colour is called…)

I loved the Essie bottles since forever. They always feature in those stunning flat-lay photos you wish you’d taken yourself and everyone seems to have one or two just tucked into the folds of their blogs. I wanted in. The smooth white lid, the cool moulded glass bottle, everything is on to a winner. Seriously, why don’t more brands opt for white over black packaging? I’d much rather photograph and feature this little bottle of spring than any other of my ugly-ass nail polishes.

On Monday night I set to work applying it to my fingernails. Three coats later, I had happy, smooth, dusty pink nails – perfect for spring time in Paris. Perfect for holding things in my instagram photos and not drawing all the attention to whatever I have on my nails.

I’ve been a pale pink polish fan forever. I’m proud to admit that I have pretty much perfected the DIY French manicure (#ILiveInParis) and I’m so excited to use this as a base – next time I get an entire year of my life spare, that is. I can pretty much guarantee that I will be using this right down to the dregs, and then will probably head out and buy three more bottles. Obsessed.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAPlease excuse my absolutely disgusting cuticles. I’m getting my nails done properly in a week or so so they’ll be so much prettier after that…

I’ve never experienced a polish that goes on quite as smooth as this. I guess you really do get what you pay for when it comes to beauty products, and I’ll definitely be going back to Essie in the future. They have ticked every single thing on my list and I’m over the moon.

I can’t wait to wear this gorgeous spring pink throughout the summer!

Are you an Essie fan?
What colour do you think I should go for next? I’m thinking a gold glitter…

I got my first essie nail polish for Christmas last year and I’m smitten! It’s so easy to apply it and the colour range is amazing! I got ‘Eternal Optimist’, but it’s also a kind of pink, so maybe nothing for your second nail polish.
