[dropcap]C[/dropcap]oncealers are really exciting, aren’t they? Okay, okay… I know they’re like the bread and butter of makeup. They’re on everyone’s face and do a whole host of different things and are just super versatile. You also don’t even have to use them at all if you don’t need them. I occasionally have a few great skin days where a touch of tinted moisturiser will do – not often I grant you.
So yeah, concealers are basically just concealers. They do great things and it’s all fab and whatever.
But which concealers are my fave? Well….
First up is the cult fave Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer. It’s the blogger’s no1 concealer, adored by highstreet and high end fans alike, and for a good reason. It’s great. It goes on nice and thick, blends beautifully, and covers everything you could possibly want to cover. It’s a real winner. I buy it in the lightest shade and use it to contour with too. It’s a modern day hero.
Another fave of mine is Benefit’s Boi-ing Industrial Strength Concealer. Again, I buy this in the lightest shade and use it to conceal and slightly highlight around my brows and under eyes. It’s fabulous at covering blemishes, and this handy two-product pot (complete with highlighter) is great for on-the-go makeup. It is, however, super heavy, so if you have drier skin or prefer a lighter base then this may not be for you. I’ve heard great things about the rest of the Boi-ing collection so I’m sure you’ll find something for you there. Similarly, the MAC Studio Finish Concealer (with the bonus of SPF35), provides great coverage and is nice and thick. I’m unsure as to which I like best so I tend to just alternate using them.
For under-eye concealer, there’s nothing quite like the Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer. With its super sift application brush, and yellow tone, the Maybelline Eraser covers the darkest of dark circles and blends seamlessly. I also find it a little glowy so is great for reflecting light and making eyes pop. Another cult fave for a good reason.
Finally, a YSL Touche-Eclat dupe from the highstreet. The L’Oréal Paris Lumi Magique Touch Of Light Highlighting Pen is just fab. Bright and light and just nice for giving your skin the lift it needs. It can’t cover anything, so don’t rely on it for bad skin days, but it’s a great little product to keep in your handbag to brighten up your makeup after work or between meetings. The packaging is also gorgeous.
(It’s just a shame that L’Oréal have such backwards views on race and activism or I’d go and pick this up again when it runs out. As it is, I bought this before they ruined their image and find it a little annoying to use now.) x
