Budget Nail Polish That Just Does Not Budge

Budget Nail Polish That Just Does Not Budge

[dropcap]I[/dropcap] don’t especially like this photo. I find small things like nail polish really hard to photograph. It’s the whole glass bottle vibe: shiny and weird edged and just not quite right. I’m working on it. It’s chill. Anyway, where was I? Ah yes. Budget nail polish that literally does not budge, at all. It’s an absolute miracle, in my opinion. Having publicly said that I’ll never sway from Essie, I’ve been truly proved wrong. I’m sorry. I’ve just found something so much better.

I’ve always loved Essence’s gel topcoat. It comes in a silver chrome bottle, goes on thick and stays on forever. That, however, was as far as I ever went in terms of their nail collection. I had a top coat that made all my chipping problems go away, and that was that.

So there I was walking around Wilko, looking for nothing in particular, thinking about how all my nail polish was in Durham and here I was at home with bad nails and no money. Obviously, having just thought that, I went straight over to the Essence counter. I picked up one, went home and used it, went straight back the next day to grab three more. At £1.60 each, why would you not?

I picked up Essence’s gel answer to budget nail polish in four colours: three nudey pinks and a khaki (much to my mother’s disgust). The exact colours, left to right, are Perfect Match (75), Olive You (84)Sweet Candy (05) and Forgive Me (13). I’ve been wearing Perfect Match for just over a week now and have zero chips, and before that I wore Olive You for exactly two weeks before it was time for a change. Can you believe that?!

It’s a miracle. An absolute miracle.

Sure the range of colours is far smaller than Essie or anyone fancy like that. And some of the colours can be a bit ‘childish’ if you catch my drift. Honestly though, that top shelf of the Essence counter is a hidden gem, and I can’t wait to pop back into a Wilko sometime soon – I’m so pissed off that the one in Durham closed down.

For super budget nail polish, I cannot recommend Essence gel collection highly enough. They really are onto a winner.

Essence is one of my favorite brands, actually the first makeup brand I ever used. Their nail polishes are so good. The quality is amazing when you look at the price. Need to go and buy more if them as I almost used them up. xx

I recently bought a little bundle of these nail polishes on a whim, and have been amazed at how good they are! I’m actually wearing it right now, a gorgeous sunshine golden yellow (probably one of the shades you’d consider “childish” but I don’t do nudes) They’re so wonderfully opaque too, and dry in no time.

I’ve never even taken any notice of Essence before, but I do love a wonder around Wilko so maybe the next time I’m in there i’ll give them a go, especially if they don’t chip, because I can literally wear nail polish for a few hours and there’s bound to be a chip already! Alice xxx

For me, these are the longest lasting nail varnishes I’ve had. I’ve got Forgive Me and it’s waaaaay more pink than I’d like. I’m currently wearing Dare It Nude 36 which is a dream of a colour and today I bought Pretty Cool Life 83 which is like a sage green which I can’t wait to try!
