3 Things I’ve Been Watching Lately.

3 Things I've Been Watching.

[dropcap]I[/dropcap]t’s no secret that we all love a good Netflix binge. I love it. You love it. We all bloody love Netflix. Don’t even pretend that you don’t like having all (or most) of your fave shows on your laptop, phone or tablet. I don’t like liars.

I do like liars. Pretty littles ones, to be precise.

Not sorry.

So anyway, now that I’m home on British Netflix soil, what have I been bingeing? Well, let me tell you. It won’t be a surprise to you. Perhaps the downside of Netflix is that we are all literally watching exactly the same things and nothing else. Oh well. You’ll just have to deal with it.

OUTLANDER

Outlander is possibly one of my fave things ever. Introduced to me by an American pal in Paris (lol, I’m the worst), I was pretty skeptical at first. Basically, an English woman is in Scotland with her husband, post-WWII, and she gets muddled up in a whole load of ‘ancient druid magic’ stuff and ends up back in the 18th century. There’re a lot of kilts, rugged men, fabulous accents, sex and blood. It’s wonderful. Perhaps the only downside for me is that the female lead can’t quite figure out if she’s pathetic or badass, but if you ignore everything she says then the show is absolutely fabulous. Bonus fun: the second season is set in Paris for ages and has some bits in French that I like to watch without the sub-titles because I’m awful. Anyway, go watch Outlander. Please.

ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK

I almost feel a bit weird telling you to go watch OITNB because there’s a 99% chance that you have. Maybe even a few times. I’m really sorry to make you read this. Butttttt… for those of you that haven’t been blessed with OITNB on your screens, you need to get on that asap. Think sassy, badass, feminist, gritty, heartbreaking, and everything else you’d want from a series about an American woman’s prison. Everyone is obsessed. You need to go right away and find out why. Go.

PEAKY BLINDERS

I have to admit, this is a new one for me. I’ve only got a few episodes in, three at the most, and so far and still a bit shaky on whether I’m going to keep it going. I love the grit of it, and the general vibe. We’ll see how I get on. With 93% on Rotton Tomatoes, it’s kinda a big deal. I also love that it’s based on a real life Birmingham gang. Nothing like a bit of glammed up ‘true crime’ on a cold July evening. (Can you even believe that it’s July? It’s been pouring with rain all week!) I’m excited to get properly stuck into the show. Wish me luck!

What have you been watching lately?
Can you recommend any lesser-known Netflix gems?

‘m just sat watching the final episode of OITNB now whilst typing this. The only bad thing about it is that it will soon be over and I will have to move onto a new series…!! Alice xxx

OITNB new series was soooo good. I had to make my friends watch it faster because I just NEEDED to talk about it with someone. Luckily they obeyed me pretty well, haha.

I really, REALLY want to watch Peaky Blinders because I generally make it my mission to watch everything that Cillian Murphy does as he is just all around amazing. But I’m a bit of a wuss when it comes to crime stuff so I’m not sure if I could take it. I might try though, if only for Cillian.

My inner TV-geek really enjoyed this post! 🙂

I tried to watch ep 1 of Peaky Blinders 3 times and gave up and then recently we decided to start from episode two and now I am OBSESSED. I definitely you at least persevere to the end of this series 🙂

  • ‘if you ignore everything she says then the show is absolutely fabulous’ gave me a giggle. I’ll add Outlander to the list asap! And I’m ashamed to say I’m part of the 1% who hasn’t yet seen OITNB – I’ve just never quite got around to it, yet!
